PATIENT CARE TECHNICIAN/ ASSOCIATE/NURSE TECHNICIAN
(PCT/PCA/NT)
Patient Care Associates/ Technicians support nurses, doctors, and other medical staff in caring for patients with physical and mental health concerns. Patient Care Technicians are employed in a wide range of healthcare settings, including hospitals, nursing homes, long-term care facilities, assisted living communities, and more.
MEDICAL ASSISTANT (CMA)
A medical assistant is a professional who performs both administrative and routine clinical tasks in a medical setting. Medical assistants commonly work in physicians' offices, outpatient clinics, hospitals, assisted living facilities, and private and government-run health centers.
PHLEBOTOMY TECHNICIAN
Phlebotomy technicians collect blood from patients and prepare the samples for testing. Most work in hospitals and clinics, but some collect blood for donation purposes. Phlebotomy technicians are important members of the health care team and often need to explain the blood-drawing procedure and put patients at ease.
PHYSICAL THERAPY AIDE
Physical Therapy Aides work in an environment where patients are recovering from injuries and illnesses and where care plans are implemented to help patients regain movement and manage pain. Aides often perform tasks such as cleaning and setting up the treatment area, moving patients, and performing administrative or clerical duties. Other duties include preparing hot and cold packs, sanitizing equipment, and assisting with patient intake. Often Aides are responsible for documenting patients' responses during exercise.
PHARMACY TECHNICIAN (CPHT)
A pharmacy technician works closely with a pharmacist to ensure the health and safety of their patients. They locate, dispense, pack, and label a prescribed medication for a patient that is then reviewed for accuracy by a pharmacist before dispensed to the patient. They might also help pharmacists with administrative tasks such as processing insurance claims, tracking inventory, and filing paperwork.
MEDICAL BILLER & CODER SPECIALIST
A Medical Coder, or Certified Professional Coder, is responsible for reviewing a patient’s medical records after a visit and translating the information into codes that insurers use to process claims from patients. Their duties include confirming treatments with medical staff, identifying missing information and submitting forms to insurers for reimbursement.
